I couldn't stand Santa Anna under Cumulus clouds
It was a lack of serotonin and the radio that brought me down
In my absurd sense of humor, I began to amount
to a paperback novel where the character kept his head in the ground

I've never felt like an actor so how should I know
to lie for an hour with nothing to show
I'll see you again when the seams start to mend on their own

I was confused by some news that I'd heard from a friend
I can't remember what was said
but now her voice of reason's stuck in my head
I think she talked about a letter that she never would send
it said "we'd better stick to winning, cuz it looks as though
we're nearing the end"

I'd like to speak on the issue of wasting my time
without wasting a second on saying it right
and seem to have spoken something worth saying aloud

I gave attention to the sound before I learned how to talk
It took a building block philosophy to tell me that I might-a been wrong
I've included many pictures from my mental oeuvre
They contradicted my assertion that a picture never tells who you are

I'd like to pull all the punches I saved for myself
and just stick to the character flaws that work well
I'll save them as trophies and put them right back on my shelf.
